Covid-19 death toll tops 18,000 after 336 new fatalities

MALAYSIA logged 336 Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the national death toll to 18,219, the Health Ministry said today.
Meanwhile, the active caseload is at 255,789, a slight dip from yesterday’s 256,302.
Of the total active caseload, 959 patients are in intensive care units, with 460 requiring respiratory support.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the active caseload to date has accounted for 20,573 recoveries and 20,396 infections that were recorded today.
To date, 1,570,827 patients have recovered from Covid-19.
Of the total fatalities, 107 were declared dead on arrival and 249 had a history of comorbidities.
By state, there were 171 deaths in Selangor, Johor (38), Sabah (33), Penang (20), Kedah (19), Sarawak (12), Kelantan (10), Perak (eight), Malacca (seven), Negri Sembilan (six), Pahang and Kuala Lumpur (four each), Perlis (three) and Labuan (one).
Thirty-seven new clusters were also reported, of which 21 are linked to workplaces, 12 in the community, three among high-risk groups and one at a detention centre.
In total, the country has recorded 4,891 clusters with 1,457 still active. – September 5, 2021.
