Vaccinated population accounts for 6,132 new Covid-19 infections

THE Health Ministry recorded 6,132 new Covid-19 infections among the vaccinated population today, out of today’s 18,547 total cases, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

According to Noor Hisham, vaccinated patients in categories 3 (pneumonia), 4 (pneumonia and requires oxygen support), and 5 (critical stage) comprised 69 of the breakthrough cases.

The other 6,063 are in the asymptomatic category 1 and mildly symptomatic category 2.

Noor Hisham said the majority – 12,415 of the 18,547 new cases today – still involve unvaccinated people or those who have only received one dose.

Among the unvaccinated, 8,088 are in Category 1 and 2, another 168 in Category 3 to 5.

For those with one dose, 4,088 are in Category 1 and 2. Another 71 are in Category 3 to 5.

Health authorities administered 313,751 doses yesterday, meaning that now 68.8% or 16,107,712 of the adult population are vaccinated.

To date, 20,677,827 people, or 88.3% of the adult population, have received their first shot. – September 7, 2021.
