THERE is still room to discuss cooperation between PAS and PKR, former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said today.

“We have an agreement to discuss the matter further and I hope this can be done,” Anwar said without disclosing with whom the agreement was made.

He was talking to the media after the submission hearing of his RM100 million defamation case against Khairy Jamaluddin at Kuala Lumpur court complex here.

Anwar said, however, any discussion would have to include PKR deputy president and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali who is abroad at the moment.

There have been calls for the Selangor PAS excos to step down following their party’s decision to cut off ties with PKR.

Anwar also conveyed his regards to Abdul Hadi Awang and hoped he recovers well (Hadi underwent surgery for a heart ailment a few days ago).

At today’s court hearing, the defamation suit was postponed to June 2.

Anwar filed the suit against Khairy on March 7, 2008, claiming that Khairy, who was then Umno Youth vice-chief, had made defamatory remarks against him during a talk in Lembah Pantai on Feb 20 that year.

Anwar claims that the defamatory remarks were recorded and uploaded onto several websites and news portals, including Malaysiakini, with the title ‘Anwar and kin no threat’. – May 19, 2017.
