MALAYSIA reported 4,947 new Covid-19 recoveries today, with the total now nearing 2.4 million, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

New cases, however, outnumbered recoveries today as 5,291 infections were reported. This brings the national tally to more than 2.48 million.

Seven of the new cases were imported while the rest stemmed from local transmissions.

Meanwhile, 545 patients are currently being treated at intensive care units (ICU) with 534 of them confirmed Covid-19 cases. Another 11 of them are probable cases.

Of the 545 patients in ICU, 286 are on respiratory support.

Noor Hisham also reported seven new clusters, taking the number of active clusters in the country to 390.

A total of 75 cases were in advanced stages of infection in categories 3, 4 and 5 while 5,216 were in categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic). – November 3, 2021.
