SEREMBAN member of Parliament Anthony Loke Siew Fook will be the DAP central executive committee (CEC) director for the Malacca elections, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said today.

“DAP national organising secretary Loke will be the DAP CEC director on November 20, while the state elections director will be Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong,” the Bagan MP said in a statement.

Yesterday, DAP announced its eight candidates in the Malacca elections, two of whom are new faces.

The incumbents are Saminathan Ganesan (Gadek-N07), Kerk Chee Yee (Ayer Keroh-N16), Allex Seah (Kesidang-N19), Low Chee Leong (Kota Laksamana-N20), Damian Yeo Shen Li (Duyong-N21) and Tey Kok Kiew (Bemban-N24).

The new candidates are Muhamad Danish Zainudin (Pengkalan Batu-N15) and Leng Chau Yen (Bandar Hilir-N22).

Lim urged Malacca voters to vote for candidates that serve all Malaysians regardless of race, religion and background.

“The future state government and elected state government must be inclusive and not discriminatory.

“The BN Malacca state government has demonstrated that it is a divisive government that practises policies that favour cronies at the expense of the rakyat.

“Malacca voters should take this opportunity to reject BN or PN candidates adopting an extremist political agenda,” he said.

Lim reiterated the unfair allocation in the Budget 2022 for the non-Malay communities to highlight Barisan Nasional’s policy of not representing all Malaysians.

“The government had announced the Budget 2022’s allocation for the bumiputera community of RM11.4 billion, with the non-Bumiputera communities receiving about RM300 million.

“This works out to about RM577 per Bumiputera, RM75 per Indian and RM15 per Chinese. Is this the fairness and justice in the government and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s Keluarga Malaysia (concept)?

“Unfortunately, it is difficult for Ismail to advise the Malacca state government to be representative of all communities when his Budget 2022 is clearly and unequivocally unfair to the non-Malay communities,” Lim said.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) has allocated 11 seats for PKR, nine for Amanah and eight for DAP in the Malacca elections. The state assembly has 28 seats.

Malacca will go to the polls on November 20, with nomination day set for November 8. – November 6, 2021.
