SELANGOR was the only state in the country to log more than 1,000 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, accounting for 1,063 out of the daily total of 4,701.

The most populous state in Malaysia reported 248 new hospital admissions while its hospital bed utilisation rate is currently at 65.6%.

According to the Health Ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, Sabah was next on the list with 569 cases.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases yesterday were Johor (395), Kedah (232), Malacca (172), Negri Sembilan (149), Pahang (267), Perak (201), Perlis (30), Penang (225), Sarawak (499), Terengganu (201), Kuala Lumpur (268), Putrajaya (41) and Labuan (10).

A total of 2,501,966 cases have been reported in Malaysia since the Covid-19 pandemic began on January 25 last year.

There were 65,505 active cases in the country as of last night. Of this number, 544 patients were treated in intensive care units with 280 of them requiring ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 51,103 patients were under home quarantine, 8,389 were admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,469 were hospitalised. – November 7, 2021.
