Health Ministry reports 35 new Covid-19 deaths, all backlog cases

ALL 35 new Covid-19 deaths reported by the Health Ministry in the past 24 hours to midnight were backlog cases.

This means that 29,291 lives have been lost to Covid-19 in Malaysia since March 17, 2020.

According to the Health Ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, five out of the 35 deaths were reported dead on arrival.

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of the number of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities after completing their clinical investigations.

Johor and Sarawak logged the highest number of deaths with six fatalities each.

Other states and federal territories that reported new deaths were Kelantan (4), Negri Sembilan (1), Pahang (4), Perak (5), Penang (2), Sabah (2), and Terengganu (5).

Kedah, Malacca, Perlis, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya reported no deaths.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, the national average of deaths per population of 1 million was 17 fatalities, while Sarawak recorded the highest among the states with 48 fatalities per population of a million. – November 8, 2021.
