PAS calls on Muslims to take super majority in Parliament

AFTER splitting with PKR, PAS is now calling on Muslims to take two-thirds control of Dewan Rakyat.
PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan said that Muslims need to rise from their “long slumber” and unite to restore their “dignity”.
He said although Islam is the religion of the federation and the majority of Malaysians are Muslims, they were still weak in their own country.
“Political Islam should be strengthened and our voices need to be two-thirds majority in Parliament.
“Although the top leaders are Muslims, we are still weak and we are insulted on our own soil,” said the Temerloh MP in a statement today.
The ruling Barisan Nasional government lost its two-thirds majority in Dewan Rakyat after the 2008 general election.
PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said it is no coincidence that PAS’ decision to end ties with PKR only came as the Islamists grew closer to arch enemy Umno.
PAS’ decision, Anwar noted, comes after it did not oppose Barisan Nasional’s 2017 budget last year or join the Bersih 5 rally for electoral reform.
“PAS’ decision is shocking and disappointing but we will accept it. PKR does not need to be obsessed with the decision,” Anwar said in a special message to PKR’s annual congress in Shah Alam this morning. – May 21, 2017.
