THE Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia has now hit 30,002 after the Ministry of Health reported 24 people succumbing to the virus in the past 24 hours.

The ministry said all 24 deaths were backlog cases.

According to the Health Ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, six out of the 24 victims were pronounced dead on arrival.

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of the number of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities after completing their clinical investigations.

Kelantan logged the highest number of deaths with five fatalities.

Other states and federal territories that reported new deaths yesterday were Johor (4); Kedah and Perak (3); Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu (2); and Negri Sembilan, Pahang, and Penang (1).

There were no reported deaths in Malacca, Perlis, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan or Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, the national average of deaths per population of 1 million over a period of two weeks was 17 fatalities, while Terengganu recorded the highest among the states with 49 fatalities per population of 1 million. – November 22, 2021.
