NAJIB Razak is standing by his comment that Bersatu is trying to oust Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaacob.

In a response to Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan, who denied such a plot, Najib, referencing a Facebook page named Otai, claimed that the page is attacking Ismail.

“I have included evidence from the page Otai, which is controlled by Bersatu,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

“Is this not evidence that Bersatu is attacking Ismail?”

Najib included screenshots taken from the Otai page, which has memes of Ismail as well as poking fun at him for not being able to control the prices of goods.

He then dared Wan Saiful to comment on the matter.

“Dare to attack but don’t dare to admit to it,” Najib said.

Ismail, who is also Umno vice-president, replaced Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister in August.

Umno enjoys an uneasy relationship with Bersatu at the federal level.

Earlier today, Wan Saiful said Bersatu is not plotting a political coup to replace Ismail with Muhyiddin.

He said Najib’s comments are slander.

On the rising prices of goods, Najib said this is also due to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration, which was led by Muhyiddin.

The Pekan MP said PN’s policies during the Covid-19 epidemic are the reason behind the current state of the country and that the ministers in charge of the country’s economy, finance, trade and agriculture at the time came from Bersatu.

“Bersatu, however, blames Barisan Nasional’s win in Malacca as the reason for the prices of goods going up. Is this not slander?” he asked.

Ismail today admitted that the prices of essential goods have risen but said it was not caused by traders.

He attributed the price increase to costs accumulated at various levels of the supply chain before goods reached the traders. – December 1, 2021.
