THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today obtained another five-day remand order against the Melaka Tengah and Jasin police chiefs in its investigations into their alleged roles in protecting illegal businesses in Malacca.

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman extended the remand order against the two police chiefs and seven others whose detention will now end on Wednesday.

All nine were picked up by MACC last Tuesday and Wednesday for allegedly protecting massage parlours and gambling dens in Malacca.

Among those arrested was a corporal attached with the Malacca police contingent.

MACC seized RM800,000 from a storeroom in his house.

The cash was part of RM1.44 million seized from the homes and bank accounts of all the suspects. – May 22, 2017.
