NURUL Izzah Anwar has slammed Putrajaya for its complacency in preparing a flood mitigation plan, as she had warned it of the imminent monsoon season in July.

The Permatang Pauh MP in a Facebook post today said: “The complacency and delays in preparing a strategic flood mitigation plan will eventually impact the people the most, while we are still fighting against Covid-19 and its new variants.”

She said she has been meeting with flood mitigation expert Jhovanz Tan from Penang since 2018 to discuss the best alternative to overcome flood issues, especially in Permatang Pauh.

“I hope this alternative can be used in other areas soon,” she said in the post.

Nurul Izzah also urged stranded flood victims to call the emergency line for help.

A clip of her pre-empting the government on the imminent monsoon season and floods has gone viral since floods hit the Klang Valley.

Last weekend, Selangor saw what has been touted as its most devastating floods of recent times, after continuous heavy rain fell for two days.

Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Malacca and Negri Sembilan are also inundated. – December 20, 2021.
