HEALTHCARE workers must continue to soldier on and care for the public because the Covid-19 pandemic is far from over, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

In a New Year message, he called on healthcare workers nationwide to continue taking precautionary measures to ensure everyone is safe.

“We are not out of the woods yet and must come together to soldier on and continue the care of our patients and the rakyat.

“We are in a crisis within a crisis, as the nation has faced devastating floods during a pandemic.

“It is essential to use common sense and take all precautionary public health and social measures. Today we have the tools, resources and strategies to protect ourselves,” he said in a tweet today.

Noor Hisham also thanked healthcare workers for all their sacrifices over the past two years.

“This has been a challenging year for all of us, especially for those most critical in our healthcare system – the individuals working day and night in ensuring the rakyat’s health and wellbeing.

“I wish to express my enduring appreciation and pride in all of you across the country for your tireless efforts and sacrifices beyond the call of duty. Thank you to every one of you.”

As the year comes to an end, Noor Hisham said he hopes that Malaysia will come out stronger in the fight against Covid-19.

“We welcome 2022 with hope and prayers that the nation comes out stronger and united in the end.

“Today our lives are less ordinary. On behalf of the Ministry of Health, thank you once again to all healthcare workers and frontliners. The nation is forever indebted to you and your sacrifices.”
