Hospitals log 824 new Covid patients

COVID-19 hospitalisations numbered 824 yesterday, a slight from from 852 the day before, while the hospital utilisation rate stood at 65.3%, the Health Ministry said.
Coronavirus patients made up 25.5% of bed occupancy.
The number of hospital admissions indicates the severity of the virus. The hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care units and on ventilators
In the Klang Valley, Selangor logged 278 hospital admissions, Kuala Lumpur, 32, and Putrajaya, 22.
New Covid hospital patients were also reported in Johor (175), Kedah (20), Kelantan (57), Malacca (11), Negri Sembilan (42), Pahang (13), Perak (35), Perlis (7), Penang (13), Sabah (110), Sarawak (52), Terengganu (9) and Labuan (2).
Malaysia yesterday posted 3,245 new infections.
The Klang Valley accounted for 1,019 of the new cases, with 679 in Selangor, 322 in Kuala Lumpur and 18 in Putrajaya.
Johor reported 464 cases, Kedah (403), Kelantan (295), Malacca (133), Negri Sembilan (171), Pahang (167), Perak (86), Perlis (11), Penang (201), Sabah (201), Sarawak (16), Terengganu (68) and Labuan (10).
Active cases of infection totalled 40,761. Among these, 33,809 (82.9%) were in home quarantine, 3,994 (9.8%) in quarantine centres, and 2,775 (6.8%) in hospital.
There are 183 individuals in intensive care units, 84 of them on ventilators. – January 19, 2022.
