MALAYSIA recorded 5,720 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The fresh infections today mark the second highest number of daily infections this year. The highest was yesterday, when the country recorded 5,736 new cases.

The nation has logged more than 5,000 fresh infections a day in the past three days.

The total number of reported Covid-19 cases now stands at 2.88 million.

The case breakdown according to state will be updated on the CovidNow website after midnight.

The infection rate stands at 1.15, signalling that the virus is spreading.

A total of 22.9 million (97.9%) adults in the country have completed their vaccination, while 23.2 million (99.1%) have received at least one vaccine dose.

A total of 2.78 million (88.6%) adolescents aged 12-17 have completed their vaccination, while 2.86 million (91.1%) have received at least one vaccine dose.

Malaysia has also started vaccinating children aged 5-12 today, under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Kids. – February 3, 2022.
