THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will call in five Mara Corp officers for questioning tomorrow, following allegations of abuse of power and misconduct, said sources.

They said the five senior officers are among 17 more individuals who will have their statements recorded in the coming days.

The officers have been summoned to MACC headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow, they added.

“So far, 14 witnesses have been called – four Mara Corp directors, seven from management, two officials and a company secretary.

“Five officers linked to the allegations will be called in tomorrow, while four board members will be called in later.”

They said the rest of the 17 individuals are four Mara officers, three bank officers and a Companies Commission of Malaysia employee.

An MACC spokesman said among the documents seized during a recent raid are proposal papers and minutes of board and exco meetings.

“Others include financial and salary documents, human resources-related documents, standard operating procedure documents and award letters.”

The anti-graft agency has started an investigation into the allegations involving the five senior officers, raiding at least three offices related to the agency under the Rural Development Ministry on Monday.

It is reportedly examining documents to identify witnesses who can be called in to aid in an investigation into the alleged misuse of corporate credit cards by Mara Corp top management.

MACC, on February 5, confirmed receiving a report on alleged integrity issues involving several the Mara Corp officers, who are already being investigated by the investment holding company. – February 10, 2022.
