Nazri insists police instigated reports against debate

SOMEONE is shading the truth and Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz says it is not him, sticking by his story that police instigated the reports that led to his debate with Dr Mahathir Mohamad being cancelled.
“I don’t lie in politics and I am defending my statement,” Nazir told The Malaysian Insight today.
Perak police chief Hasnan Hassan denied Nazri’s allegations yesterday in a statement. “It is not true and a wild accusation,” Hasnan said.
“I would like to stress that the police are not involved in political arguments or favour any party anywhere in this country.
Nazri, however, is standing by his claim that the police reports filed against the debate were made at the instruction of the police.
“I have been informed there were five police reports made by three individuals against the debate. The contents of the reports were the same,” he had said.
The Padang Rengas MP said the three complainants were an Umno branch leader in his constituency, an Umno Youth member and a village chief.
“When I asked them why they made the police reports, they said they were asked to do so by the police,” said Nazri.
Nazri’s debate with Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir in Kuala Kangsar on March 25 was cancelled for the second time by the police.
The debate was originally to take place on Nazri’s home ground in Padang Rengas.
Police said the application for a permit to hold the event was rejected on grounds of safety and security. – May 24, 2017.
