21,315 new Covid cases today

MALAYSIA logged 21,315 new Covid-19 infections as of noon today, an increase from yesterday’s 21,072.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said most of the new infections were in the asymptomatic (6,200) and mildly symptomatic (15,028) categories.
Meanwhile, only 87 cases are in the more serious categories of 3, 4 and 5.
The cumulative number of infections since the onset of Covid-19 stands at 3.06 million.
The number of daily cases has gone up in the last 10 days.
Malaysia’s current infection rate is at 1.43.
The breakdown of cases by state will be uploaded on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal after midnight.
A total of 22.9 million individuals or 97.5% of the population have completed the vaccination, while 98.7% or 23.2 million individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
For adolescents aged between 12 and 17, a total of 2.8 million or 89.8% of their population in the country have completed the vaccination, while 2.87 million or 92.3% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Yesterday, a total of 118,875 doses of the vaccine were dispensed, involving 35,441 as first dose, 649 second doses and 82,785 booster doses.
This brings the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered under the immunisation programme to more than 65 million. – February 14, 2022.
