New Covid cases climb to 22,133 today

MALAYSIA logged 22,133 Covid-19 cases as at noon today, an increase from yesterday’s 21,315 infections, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Dr Noor Hisham said the majority of the cases are in non-severe categories with 5,831 cases in Category 1 and 16,156 in Category 2.

Meanwhile, 146 are in the more severe Categories 3 (102 cases), 4 (24) and 5 (20).

The cumulative number of infections since the onset of Covid-19 stands at 3.08 million.

Malaysia’s current infection rate is at 1.38, a drop from yesterday’s 1.43.

The breakdown of cases by state will be uploaded on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal after midnight.

Yesterday, a total of 149,888 doses of the vaccine were dispensed, involving 35,441 as the first dose, 1,489 as the second, and 109,661 as booster doses.

This brings the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered under the immunisation programme to over 65 million.

A total of 22.9 million individuals or 97.5% of the population have completed the vaccination, while 98.7% or 23.2 million individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine. – February 15, 2022.
