Malaysia breaks record again with 32,070 new Covid cases

MALAYSIA reported another record-breaking number of infections yesterday logging 32,070 cases and 46 fatalities, the Health Ministry said.
This is the second day in a row cases have exceeded 30,000. On Wednesday, 31,199 infections were reported.
Daily cases have been trending in the five digits over the past few weeks due to the Omicron wave.
The Klang Valley accounts for the bulk of the cases, with 9,678 infections.
Selangor reported 7,458 infection, Kuala Lumpur (2,100) and Putrajaya (120).
After Selangor, Sabah reported the highest number of cases at 4,892, followed by election-bound Johor (2,699) and Kedah (2,579).
Kelantan was next on the list with 1,746 infections, followed by Malacca (888), Negri Sembilan (1,840), Pahang (1,647), Perak (1,552), Perlis (262), Penang (2,575), Sarawak (416), Terengganu (852) and Labuan (444).
According to CovidNow, 17 of the 46 fatalities were dead on arrival (DOA).
With the addition of the latest deaths, the toll stands at 32,534, of which 6,646 are DOA.
The GitHub database showed that Johor and Kedah logged the highest number of deaths at eight each, followed by Pahang and Sabah with seven each, and Penang and Selangor with six each.
Three deaths each were reported in Perak, two in Terengganu and one each in Kelantan and Negri Sembilan.
There were no fatalities in Malacca, Perlis, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan or Putrajaya.
The national infectivity rate stands at 1.13, with all states also reporting an infectivity rate of above 1.0. – February 25, 2022.
