THE Health Ministry recorded 1,559 new Covid-19 hospital admissions yesterday. 

Out of the total, 990 cases were in categories 1 and 2, while 569 were in the more serious categories of 3, 4 and 5.

Selangor reported the highest number of new admissions with 223, followed by Pahang (194) and Johor (161).

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said intensive care unit (ICU) utilisation was 65% out of a total capacity of 12,117 beds.

He said that usage of ICU beds was highest in Kelantan at 94%, followed by Johor (69%) and Putrajaya (67%).

Malaysia’s Covid-19 infection rate stood at 1.05.

Noor Hisham added that 22,380 recovered patients were discharged yesterday. – February 28, 2022.
