PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang thanked Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for retaining the three PAS executive councillors (exco) in the state government until the next general election.

Hadi said the Sultan’s action was highly regarded and was done to ensure political stability in the country’s richest state.

“I am confident that the three excos and 10 state assemblymen from PAS to will continue to repay the trust placed upon them by His Royal Highness and continue their duties to safeguard the stability of the Selangor government, and serve the people fairly,” Hadi said in a statement today, his first after undergoing a heart surgery last week.

PAS formally cut ties with PKR on May 11 at the party’s muktamar in Alor Star, Kedah.

PKR had since instructed its members to resign from all government positions in Kelantan and several quarters, including DAP and some in PKR, had called on PAS to quit the Selangor government.

Sultan Sharafuddin today agreed to keep the three PAS excos in government until the 14th general election, to ensure stability in the state government led by Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“I also take into consideration the current mandate given to the state government by the people to continue to administer the state and ensure harmony and prosperity for the good of the people,” Sultan Sharafuddin said in his statement.

PAS Selangor commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi had also earlier his expressed his gratitude to the Sultan.

“PAS Selangor through its three excos and 10 assemblymen will continue to work hard with loyalty and excellent service.

“The most important thing is that the people’s interest and political stability are priorities that will not be replaced.

“We cut political ties (with PKR) but that does not mean we have put an end to the kinship, friendship and cooperation for the greater good, we will strengthen it instead,” Sallehen said. – May 25, 2017.
