FORMER prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin came to ask for Pejuang’s support, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

“He asked us to support him,” said Dr Mahathir during a press conference at Yayasan Al-Bukhary in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr Mahathir, who was ousted from Bersatu after Muhyiddin caused the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020, said Muhyiddin wants to be prime minister again.

“We haven’t decided on anything,” said the 96-year-old former prime minister.

“I don’t know what to say. I’m not the PM now because he stabbed me in the back. How do you work with someone who stabbed you in the back?” said the Pejuang chairman.

Dr Mahathir and PH were ousted from Putrajaya following Muhyiddin’s actions in the Sheraton Move.

Yesterday, Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir told reporters in Terengganu that Muhyiddin had met his father to discuss cooperation in the next general election.

Dr Mahathir today spoke on the reasons for Pejuang’s defeat in the Johor state elections last month, where the party lost in all 42 seats it contested.

He blamed corruption as one of the factors.

“When we called some voters, they asked us how much Pejuang is willing to give. According to them, a certain party gave RM200, but we don’t have money.

“We want people to support us because they want to fight corruption,” said the Langkawi MP.

Dr Mahathir earlier today met Yayasan Anti Rasuah Malaysia president Mohd Nizam Mohd Isa to discuss ways on how to combat corruption in the country. – April 1, 2022.
