SEVERAL areas in the capital city are hit by flash floods today, following a downpour this afternoon.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), in a Facebook post, said among the affected areas are Jalan Kuching, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Jalan Semantan, Jalan Segambut, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah and Jalan Travers.
Its Transportation Management Centre said 14 main routes in the capital are flooded as of 4.30pm.
The inundation has caused a standstill in most areas of the city, with pictures of floods and heavy traffic shared on social media.
Unusually heavy rain that lasted for two hours also caused flash floods in Kuala Lumpur last month, leaving cars stranded on roads.
The Meteorological Department at the time said heavy rain during the inter-monsoon season (from March 14 to May) can cause flooding in parts of the peninsula, as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
The inter-monsoon season marks the end of northeast monsoon season, which started on November 3 last year. – April 25, 2022.
