Pakatan to take RoS to court over registration fiasco

AFTER waiting for more than seven months to get registered, Pakatan Harapan is now taking it to the next level: They will take the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to court.
The Opposition coalition will appeal to the courts to compel RoS to provide answers on the status of their application which was submitted in July last year.
PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said there has been no response from RoS despite engaging with them.

Dr Mahathir said RoS’ silence could be seen as helping Barisan Nasional (BN) win the 14th general election.
“It is not right for a government agency to be one-sided in carrying out responsibilities,” he said.
“We are also worried about the voters’ lists where we have found a lot of discrepancies. We will raise this issue with the Election Commission (EC).”
Dr Mahathir also criticised the postal and early voting system.
“We find this exercise will allow many voters to support government parties.
“We know in the 13th general election there were 400,000 postal voters. This will have a huge impact on the votes for the opposition.”
As for GE14, Dr Mahathir said the numbers of postal and early voters have reached 1,000,000.
“This will result in an abuse of power by certain parties to ensure a win for the ruling coalition.
“These methods are unfair and are made by the government to determine victory for BN.” – February 20, 2018.
