RAFIZI Ramli has officially won the post of PKR deputy president after a forensic audit of the party’s election result.
Rafizi won with an overwhelming majority of 16,668 votes over rival Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
The post of PKR’s women’s head however went to senator Fadhlina Sidek, who won by a narrow margin of 32 votes.
Unofficial results had initially placed Rafizi’s ally Rodziah Ismail as women’s head.
PKR party election committee director Zaliha Mustafa said in a statement that the forensic audit had found attempts by “irresponsible parties” to tamper with the results.
“However (the clean-up) did not affect the results for a majority of candidates, be they at the central or division levels,” Zaliha said.
Disgruntled party members called for the forensic audit after allegations of foul play emerged.
One of those who demanded for a forensic audit was former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who lost to Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari for the Gombak division chief post.
Farhash claimed he and his team had strong evidence indicating there were discrepancies in the tallying of the results.
The official results also confirmed that the four elected vice-presidents, in chronological order, are Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang, Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
Chang, Nik Nazmi, and Aminuddin are aligned with Rafizi. – July 4, 2022.
