BERSATU information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan has confirmed that he is no longer chairman of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).
He confirmed the matter in a Facebook post while responding to an Utusan Malaysia article speculating that he was no longer the fund’s chairman.
“I’ve already said previously that I would be stepping down from the post on June 17.
“As for my next step, wait until it comes,” Wan Saiful said.
Utusan Malaysia had reported that the PTPTN website no longer lists Wan Saiful as the corporation’s chairman.
He was appointed to the post under the Pakatan Harapan government in 2018 when his party Bersatu was still part of the coalition.
He did not address speculation that he would replace former Bersatu minister Zuraida Kamaruddin in the Plantation Industries and Commodities portfolio, following Zuraida’s decision to quit Bersatu and join Parti Bangsa Malaysia.
Bersatu is lobbying for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be given the cabinet post.
Zuraida, meanwhile, is still minister as Ismail has not made a decision about her replacement. He is also facing pressure from Umno to appoint a Barisan Nasional MP as her replacement. – July 12, 2022.
