THE government should not have censored its report on the Automated Enforcement System (AES), said the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“The censorship of the companies, Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd and ATES Sdn Bhd, and ministers involved is ridiculous when it is already public knowledge,” said PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh in a statement today.
According to Wong, the government had blanked out the companies’ and ministers names in the PAC report.
The PAC report, which included an attachment “Follow-up action for the Transport Minister on AEC”, was tabled in Parliament today.
Wong said that the government or Prime Minister’s Office should respect Parliament especially PAC.
“People can judge for themselves why the government has censored the PAC report.”
“The redacted parts of the report have nothing to do with security or sensitive policies and has degraded parliament,” said Wong.
Moreover, the RM555 million takeover price was overvalued and exorbitant as KPMG had valued the companies at no more than RM251 million, said the PAC. – August 1, 2022.
