BERSATU will strengthen the current government through the Perikatan Nasional coalition, Azmin Ali said today.

The Bersatu supreme council member was responding to whether PN will be withdrawing its support for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakkob.

“My answer is simple, my colleagues and I in Bersatu and PN will take the responsibility to strengthen the current government as the existing coalition involves the largest component of PN,” he said, when met by reporters in Serdang today.

“A stable and strong government will benefit the people and the country will prosper, God willing.”

When asked whether he had been nominated as the deputy prime minister candidate, Azmin refused to comment.

Last week Ismail said if PN withdrew its support, it would trigger a snap poll.

PN is reported to be upset with the prime minister following his decision to call off a meeting with the coalition at the last minute.

The meeting was to have discussed PN’s unhappiness with Ismail in the execution of the terms of an agreement of political cooperation between them, including on the appointment of a deputy prime minister from Bersatu. – August 8, 2022.
