THE office of the chief registrar of the Federal Court clarified today that a leaked judgment in relation to former prime minister Najib Razak’s appeal was merely a draft.

“The final verdict was read out in open court at 4pm on the same day.

“The leaked document has also been tampered with,” the registrar’s office said in a statement.

It said that a police report had been lodged while an internal investigation was in progress.

“This is a deliberate act to tarnish the integrity of the operation of the Court and the administration of justice.

“An internal investigation has already started and a police report has been made.

“This office insists that the judiciary will not be harassed by illegal and irresponsible acts that affect the integrity of the country’s judicial system,” the registrar said in a statement.”

The statement from the chief registrar was in response to a leaked judgment by the Federal Court involving Najib and its push by the Malaysia Now site run by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Earlier today, the federal court upheld Najib’s conviction in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial and ordered that he begin his 12-year sentence immediately.

Najib will also have to cough up RM210 million to pay the fine imposed by the court. – August 23, 2022.
