THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to call in several individuals soon to record their statements to help investigate the breach of trust and abuse of power case involving the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA).

Sources said MACC also raided and investigated the KLFA and Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) offices last week following a complaint about a case of breach of trust involving some RM3 million from sponsorship money and the KLFA Academy land in Desa Melawati.

“Several witnesses will be called in the near future to have their statements recorded.

“Currently, the documents obtained from the KLFA office last week have been sent to the Forensics Department for analysis and the MACC will examine the process of using these sponsored funds, whether they are in accordance with the regulations,” a source told The Malaysian Insight.

According to the source, the biggest sponsorship is from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) followed by several companies in Kuala Lumpur.

However, he said, the investigation is still at an early stage and witness statements will be scrutinised for further action.

MACC senior director of investigations, Hishamuddin Hashim, when contacted, confirmed that an investigation is being carried out on the football association.

He said the case was investigated in accordance with section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. – August 26, 2022.
