PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) is open to discussing cooperation with any political party, including Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for the general election, Hamzah Zainudin said today.
“(We are) open to cooperation with any party,” said the PN secretary-general.
He was responding to Dr Mahathir’s statement earlier that GTA is open to talks with PN, but the decision on whether cooperation will be established is not yet known.
The newly formed GTA is made up of four parties – Pejuang, Berjasa, Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia, and Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional – as well as civil society groups.
It aims to oppose the misuse of power and corruption, and fight for the rights of the Malays to build a “clean” government.
GTA will submit an application to register the movement with the Registrar of Societies on September 6.
Previously, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin suggested that opposition parties should consider reopening the door to negotiations to reach an agreement in the upcoming elections. – September 1, 2022.
