MUDA is ready to meet the PKR leadership and grassroots over the former’s application to join Pakatan Harapan, party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said.

The Muar MP said his party is aware of the opposition of PKR to the admission of Muda into the coalition.

“The criticisms and concerns raised are well founded and I am ready to meet to answer all those concerns,” he said in Petaling Jaya at a party event last night.

“Muda is very open to discussion, either privately or in an open forum, but at the same time we will also continue to meet with the PKR leadership and grassroots.

“It is to allow us to move forward together to build a strong coalition to defeat Barisan Nasional and strengthen a multiracial Malaysia.”

Syed Saddiq hailed the PH presidential council’s decision to establish a committee to examine Muda’s application to join the opposition bloc.

“We are ready to meet the PH leadership to build a solid cooperation and coalition based on values, principles, and ideas,” he said.

On September 22, the PH presidential council announced that a committee will be to set up to negotiate with Muda and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) over their applications to join the coalition.

The committee is made up of representatives of PH components.

“Muda has decided it wants to work with PH, we stand by that decision,” said Syed Saddiq, who announced the decision on September 6.

PKR leaders have been leery of Muda, with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim saying the youth-based party’s wish should be discussed.

PKR youth leader Adam Adli Abdul Halim had said that admission would not be easy for Muda.

He said PH must consider several issues, especially the sentiments of the grassroots, before taking the party into its fold.
