RM10 billion set aside for BKM cash aid

THE government has allocated RM10 billion for the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) cash aid programme under Budget 2023, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said.

The new allocation will see households with more than five members and an income below RM2,500 receive a one-off cash aid of RM2,500.

This is the highest BKM payment to date, Tengku Zafrul said.

The increase in the amount of cash aid is in line with the adjustment to the national poverty line, he said.

Of the RM10 billion allocation, RM2.4 billion has been set aside for the Welfare Department to help people facing chronic diseases and the disabled.

This is an increase from RM1.5 billion last year, Tengku Zafrul said. – October 7, 2022.
