JEALOUSY and rage are believed to be the motives behind a bomb attack that killed a waiter in Pandan Indah, Ampang Jaya, last week.

According to sources, the couple suspected of being involved in the case were caught on CCTV cameras at the scene of the crime.

“Early investigations revealed that one of the suspects admitted involvement in causing the explosion,” a source said.

“I believe that the motive was jealousy and anger towards the victim for disturbing the woman concerned.”

The source said materials believed to have been used to make the bomb were found in the suspect’s house.

“An examination by the Forensics Unit found traces of the same material believed to have been used to make the bomb,” the source said.

Selangor deputy police chief S. Sasikala Devi today confirmed that the couple were remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.

“The suspects were nabbed in a housing area in Serdang, Kedah, at about 7.20pm yesterday,” she said.

On December 29 last year, media reported that a 28-year-old man was killed after a package that was left on the bonnet of his car exploded in front of the restaurant where he worked.

The victim reportedly tried to remove the package after being alerted to it by a colleague.

Police investigations found a battery, knife fragments and a power bank at the scene of the incident.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak was previously quoted as saying that the case would be investigated under section 302 of the penal code for murder. – January 4, 2023.
