PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim said it is a complicated endeavour to bring businessman Low Taek Jho back to Malaysia to be tried for his role in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.

Anwar said diplomatic talks have been held between several governments to bring Low, popularly known as Jho Low, home, but added he cannot reveal which countries are involved in negotiations.

“Until now, (we) can’t confirm where he is… negotiations are being undertaken.

“The repatriation process is difficult because it involves other countries, intelligence work, Interpol and others,” he said in Kuala Lumpur.

He said this when asked about the government’s efforts to bring back Low, who is facing several criminal charges related to 1MDB. – May 5, 2023.
