A BLOGGER linked to a political party has been remanded for two days from today to assist in investigations into allegations of corruption in a project worth RM41 million by a ministry.

Putrajaya magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin allowed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) remand application this morning.

According to sources, the blogger, who has many followers, is believed to have received a bribe amounting to RM1.3 million from an information technology company in 2020.

“The bribe is an incentive for the suspect to lobby so that the company succeeds in obtaining related contracts.

“Apart from corruption, MACC will also look at how the procurement procedure for the project was implemented,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

MACC senior director of investigation Hishamuddin Hashim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was investigated under section 16 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009. – May 12, 2023.
