PAS today urged Muslims to defend the country against evangelical Christians, saying it is their duty to guard against what threatens the Islamic way of life.
Party information chief Nasrudin Hassan said evangelical Christians are “aggressive” and “cunning” in their bid to wrest control over national politics.
“Evangelical Christians must not be underestimated. They are extremely antagonistic towards Islam,” Nasrudin said in a statement today.
However, he did not say what evangelical Christians have done in their allegedly aggressive and cunning bid to seize power.
Nasrudin also urged Muslims to arm themselves with better knowledge of Islam and to apply their learning in their daily lives.
“Make the lines of prayer closer and avoid trivial disputes. Rise and defend the faith and country from the schemes of evangelical Christians,” the Temerloh MP said.
Nasrudin’s statement follows the controversially named Christian gathering, “Jerusalem Jubilee” in Malacca which has since been cancelled due to the uproar it caused in the Muslim community.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ordered the police to stop the gathering even after the organisers had called it off.
“When Muslims have been cut, injured… I, as the home minister, have ordered the police to prohibit the gathering. The message is loud and clear.
“Whoever organised the Jerusalem Jubilee, your permit has been cancelled. This is an official order from me, the home minister,” he was quoted as saying in Bernama. – June 6, 2017.
