Amirudin in 3-cornered fight for Sungai Tua

CARETAKER Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari will be facing a three-cornered fight in the Sungai Tua seat in Selangor.

The incumbent, who is also state PKR and Pakatan Harapan leader, is set to face Perikatan Nasional (PN)/PAS’ Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin and Independent Suman Gopal.

Returning officer Nor Azlina Abdul Aziz confirmed the candidates for the seat after the end of nomination period this morning at SMK Sungai Pusu, Gombak.

In the 2018 general election, Amirudin defeated Barisan Nasional (BN), PAS and Independent candidates with a 17,446 majority.

Early voting for the August 12 state polls is on August 8.

The neighbouring Gombak Setia seat is also set for a three-cornered fight.

Incumbent Hilman Idham from PN will face BN’s Megat Zulkarnain Omardin and Independent Mohd Salim Mohd Ali.

Returning officer Mohd Hasrul Hisham Abdullah confirmed the candidates after the nomination period ended this morning.

Hilman won the seat under the PKR banner in 2018 but later defected to Bersatu. – July 29, 2023.
