KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) must halt all construction work related to the Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) development pending a judicial review, said Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh.
The proposed TRK land development, which was approved in November last year, involves the building of eight blocks of 42- and 52-storey high-end service apartments and a 30-storey affordable housing block.
Residents’ association Save Taman Rimba Kiara have opposed the development, taking developer Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd and DBKL to court.
“For now I have requested the mayor (Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz) to ensure that the whole thing is KIV (kept in view),” Yeoh said after officiating a function in the city today along with Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng.
“No work should start on the ground until the judicial review is decided in court some time in June.”
The judicial review seeks to quash the development order granted by DBKL to Memang Perkasa. The next hearing date for the judicial review has been fixed for June 13 before justice Nordin Hassan.
Yeoh had on May 16 lodged a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against landowner Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan over the TRK development. The foundation is chaired by former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
“MACC has only confirmed that they have registered our complaint and that they are investigating. Our immediate concern is to see the Kuala Lumpur federal territory cleaned up,” Yeoh said.
Meanwhile, Lim called for the resignation of those on DBKL’s advisory board.
“The people have spoken. The DBKL advisory board and the Dewan Negara, those are 100% political appointees. MCA, Gerakan and whatnot.
“The people have spoken in the May 9 election. They should know what to do. They should do the right thing,” Lim said. – May 27, 2018.
