SELANGOR police have urged Umno grassroots leader Jamal Yunos to turn himself in after he resurfaced today with a statement that he would not run from the authorities.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief senior assistant commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said Jamal should “just turn up yourself”, the Malay Mail reported.
The Sungai Besar Umno division chief faces three charges – two for trespassing and one for being a public nuisance when he smashed beer bottles in front of the Selangor state secretariat in Shah Alam, in October last year.
Jamal disappeared from a hospital in Ampang on Friday after he was charged for the three offences.
The police could not reach him and the immigration department was put on alert.
His lawyer Mohd Imran Tamrin said there had been a misunderstanding and Jamal had left the hospital thinking his bail process had been completed.
Jamal today issued a statement accusing Pakatan Harapan of “provocation” by “using PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police)” to arrest him.
“For your information, Jamal Yunos will not run. I just need to find peace within myself,” he said. – May 27, 2018.
