NAJIB Razak is under police investigation and is not entitled to the special privileges accorded to a former prime minister, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad tonight.

“But if he’s found innocent, he will get the same treatment as other former prime ministers,” said Dr Mahathir.

He said this while responding to Najib’s Facebook post that his police and security escort was revoked officially by the federal government today.

Najib said in a Facebook post about one hour ago said he finally bid farewell to his special police escorts, special task force officers, and other officers who had provided security at his home and the prime minister’s official residence, Seri Perdana.

“These last few weeks, the security personnel have been withdrawn by the new government except for an ADC (aide-de-camp),” Najib wrote.

The Malaysian Insight today saw the police escort Najib out of his Langgak Duta home around 6.45pm.

But when Najib returned at 7.48pm, there was no police escort.

Najib said he and his family would never forget the friendship, loyalty, and contributions shared between them for the past nine years.

He said that some of the officers had served him during his term as deputy prime minister.

“It cannot be denied that these officers shed tears when we said our farewells to one another.

“I hope the new government will look after the officers’ wellbeing because these personnel are dedicated individuals who will serve the government of today with their utmost loyalty,” Najib added.

On May 16, police raided Najib’s house and other premises linked to him.
