FINDINGS of the investigations into the data breach involving Satellite TV network Astro and the Ministry of Education will be made public, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been ordered to investigate the breaches and to give him a report in a week.

“I have ordered MCMC to investigate and the findings and the action taken will be made public,” said Gobind, who is also Puchong lawmaker.

Last week, Astro customers’ data were leaked online involving the Internet Protocol Television customers provided by Maxis.

It was also reported that a recent data leak involving the Education Ministry’s school examination analysis system exposed the personal data of more than 10 million Malaysians.

“A breach of data is a very serious problem I do not take it lightly.

“I want the MCMC to come back to me with the report and the steps taken to avoid this thing from recurring,” he said in Cyberjaya today.

He added that the ministry is also monitoring other data breaches. – June 11, 2018.
