AHMAD Zahid Hamidi has pledged to stick with Umno and support its new leader should he lose the contest for the president’s post.
The acting president denied rumours that he would leave the party and form his own if things did not go his way.
“If I win, I will not forsake anybody,” he said in a press conference today.
The former deputy prime minster said he decided to contest the top post in the June 30 party polls to ensure “continuity” from the previous leadership.
The Bagan Datuk MP will take on Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and party veteran Tengku Razaleigh Tengku Hamzah in the fight for the president’s post. – June 23, 2018.
