ISA Samad, who resigned as Felda Global Venture chairman two days ago, arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters today to assist in a probe into alleged abuse of power and graft in the plantation giant.
Isa and wife, Bibi Shaliza Mohd Khalid, arrived in Putrajaya at 9.40am in a black Toyota Lexus. Both greeted reporters before entering the building.
On Monday, Isa stepped down from the post a few hours after meeting with Prime Minister Najib Razak. On the same day, he was appointed the Land Public Transport Commission acting chairman.
Najib then announced Dr Sulaiman Mahbob as FGV’s acting chairman.
Isa and suspended FGV chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad are embroiled in a dispute over purported irregularities involving deals between FGV subsidiary Delima Oil Products and Afghan company Safitex.
Zakaria and three other senior officers were forced to go on leave by the board early this month following an internal probe into the deal.
MACC at the same time launched a probe into the graft and abuse of power allegations in FGV.
Najib told Felda settlers in Johor recently that he wants the problems in FGV to be solved before Hari Raya. – June 21, 2017
