THE chief executive officer of Putrajaya Holdings has been detained today by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist with investigations into alleged misappropriation in awarding tenders of housing projects worth RM300 million in the administrative capital.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed the arrest but declined to comment.
A source however said that the 59 year-old Datuk was detained at his office at noon.
MACC also conducted raids at three locations in the Klang Valley to obtain documents related to the case.
According to the source, the project was awarded to a contractor through the normal tender process but it was intentionally hijacked, causing the contractor to fail in completing the job.
“The project was then given to another contractor believed to be linked to the suspect. It has been planned from the very beginning,” the source said.
The CEO is expected to be remanded tomorrow morning. – June 27, 2018.
