EDUCATION Minister Maszlee Malik has lodged a police report against a man who has allegedly posed as the minister’s private secretary.

Maszlee said the man had contacted the Education Department in Miri, Sarawak, and identified himself as Anuar Isa. The man allegedly contacted the department’s office a few days ago to obtain information of schools requiring maintenance.

“(This) Anuar Isa had called to get information about the schools that needed maintenance, where I supposedly would be doing direct appointments for a contractor,” Maszlee said to reporters at the Education Ministry in Putrajaya.

“This is fake.”

Maszlee said that he had lodged a police report and took this case of identity theft seriously.

“I take this seriously as it is a daring attempt to use a minister’s secretary’s name for the abuse of power.

“I warn that I will not hesitate to take legal action on those that use my name for personal gain,” he said. – June 28, 2018.
