ZERO tolerance for corruption would be key to attract Chinese investments, the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) said.
MCCC president Tan Yew Sing said this was because zero corruption would lower business costs.
“Because this government focuses on zero tolerance for corruption.
“Corruption will increase business costs, even you have reduced corruption practices business costs will still be reduced,” he said after the MCCC annual general meeting at Kuala Lumpur.
Returning from his business trip to Beijing today, he said Chinese business investors had told him that they are looking for business-friendly investments in Malaysia.
“They are looking for a friendly business environment, they want to have foreign direct investments that benefit the locals,” he said.
He also said although some Chinese investors are adopting a wait-and-see attitude towards investing in Malaysia, he expects there will be more investments in the future.
“I foresee some of the Chinese projects will carry on, some of them would temporarily pause their investments to understand the situation better.
“I expect there will be a lot of business friendly policies and incentives to encourage more business activities.
“But in the long run I think from my observation it will be more positive.” – June 30, 2018.
