THE senior doctor accused of being a sex predator has not tendered his resignation but was ordered to go on leave, according to a senior staff member at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
The specialist at the hospital had been ordered to go on leave immediately after a local daily published accounts of his alleged sexual attacks on female freshmen under his supervision.
“No resignation from the officer… I can’t comment further. He has been instructed to go on leave until investigations are completed,” the source told The Malaysian Insight.
On Sunday, The Star ran an expose alleging that the man had sexually abused several female housemen.
However, no official reports have been lodged.
“Police have confirmed that there are no police reports. There is a possibility the complainants are ashamed to lodge a formal complaint.
“But there is no official complaint. The hospital has checked,” said the source.
The Star reported that the man targeted young, female housemen as they would be dependent on him to pass their medical training.
One of the alleged victims claimed to have made a police report last year against the man, but that no action had come out of it.
Health Minister Dzulkifly Ahmad said his ministry will meet Women’s Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Hannah Yeoh to discuss details of the case. – July 31, 2018.
