DR Mahathir Mohamad should look at the support given by party members that had allowed him to lead Malaysia for 22 years instead of trying to destroy it, said Penang Umno leader Musa Sheikh Fadzir today.

Musa, who is Bukit Mertajam Umno chief, said Dr Mahathir also had support when he sacked former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“Our loyalty is to the leader. The party is our home.

“The party sacked Anwar, and Dr Mahathir had our support because of our loyalty to the president.

“It saddens me to see Dr Mahathir turn his back on us and cooperate with DAP, a party that he said was racist.”

He said Dr Mahathir’s attitude only showed that the latter was a man with no principal.

“He is angry with one person and wants to burn everything. If Umno is destroyed, where would Malays go?”

Musa told Dr Mahathir stop asking Umno members to be disloyal.

“Please, have mercy on Umno members. Do not teach us to betray our people.”

Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak said Dr Mahathir’s politics was personal.

“He is angry with one person and wants to take him out. PKR exists because of his doing.

“Anwar formed PKR after being kicked out of the government and Umno.”

He said party members should continue to be loyal to their leader even if they disagreed with the latter’s opinion.

“We can agree to disagree, but be loyal to the party, to the leader.” – July 23, 2017.
